Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle subtle form of osteopathy. Practitioners use their hands to feel a very gentle pulsation known as the cranial rhythm. Practitioners pick up these pulsations and monitor strains and stresses within the body and help the body to unwind any distortions in the tissues by using gentle pressure on various parts of the body. It is extremely effective in the treatment of a whole range of ailments and conditions in people of all ages.
What will the treatment feel like?
Your osteopath will place his/her hands on your head or body on or away from the symptomatic area. You may feel sensations of warmth, pressure or release at the point of contact or elsewhere in the body. Most patients become very relaxed as the strains and tensions are ‘drawn out’ of their body.
Patients often describe an improved sense of general well being as well as an improvement in the symptoms that drew them to the osteopath in the first place.
